FAQ

How much wind is needed for my kite lesson?

A lesson will continue with a base wind of minimum 12 knots to maximum 28 knots of wind. The wind direction varies from location to location, but for us it should not be offshore. Furthermore, no extreme wind gusts and no thunderstorms should be predicted.

At what point will I know if my lesson is on or off?

Every day, we check the most recent weather forecast and you will receive a text message and email whether the lesson is approved or rejected. We make this decision based on wind speed, wind direction and other weather conditions that affect safety. Of course, we want nothing more than for all lessons to go ahead! If we do have to cancel a lesson, we will also put the reason in the email message. And you can immediately reschedule your lesson via your account.

What should I bring to my lesson?

Swimwear and a towel
Sunscreen and sunglasses

We will take care of the rest! Wetsuit, trapeze, helmet, life jacket and lycra are all included in the price. Of course, it is also possible to come to the kitesurfing lesson with your own wetsuit and trapeze.

What if my lesson is cancelled?

If we cancel your lesson, due to the wind and/or weather forecast, this lesson will immediately reappear in your account. You can reschedule the lesson via your own account, ‘my bookings’, on our website.

I want to schedule a class, but it doesn't work on the date I want, now what?

It is possible that all instructors are already fully booked and there is no more space. Can't book in on your preferred day and want to know if an instructor is still available or coming that day? Then feel free to send us an e-mail. Mention your name, date and time you want to schedule. Then we will put you on the reserve list.

I live far away, can I hear earlier if the class will go ahead?

If you have to come from far away and have more than an hour of travel time, we understand that you want to know a bit earlier whether the lesson will take place. In this case, make sure you contact us yourself at least 24 hours in advance. Then we can check the forecast and tell you whether the wind is good or not. It's also smart to check the wind forecast yourself at www.windfinder.com before departure. In doubt? Then give us a call!

Where can I check the wind forecast?

We always make our decision based on the website www.windfinder.com. You can check the wind forecast on this website. You go to the website windfinder.com then search for our surf spot ‘Windekind’. Then you will see a table with all the information. Does your lesson take place within 3 days? Then be sure to check out the superforecast, which is more accurate than the regular forecast.

Will my lesson continue if it rains?

If the wind and temperature are right. A lesson with rain will go ahead as usual. Naturally, you will get wet anyway and you have a wetsuit on.

I wish to book a refresher class, how does this work?

Refresher lessons are offered for anyone who has already mastered the basics of the specific water sport.
For example: you have learned to kite abroad and feel unsure about surfing in the North Sea. You learned windsurfing a long time ago and would like to refresh everything before going back out on the water on your own.

Refreshers are therefore intended for people who have already practised water sports independently.

You can choose whether you want 1, 2 or 3 hours of refresher. For kitesurfing, you can only choose 2 or 3 hours.

The number of lessons you choose for a refresher equals the number of hours of that lesson.
